Scott C. Suzuki
graduated in the top tier of his class from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii in 2004. Simultaneously, Scott graduated with a 4.0 grade point average from the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii with a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree in gerontology. Scott has been in private practice since his graduation.

Scott continues to be active at the University of Hawaii as a volunteer attorney at the University of Hawaii Elder Law Program (UHELP). Through UHELP, Scott has assisted Professor James H. Pietsch provide free legal assistance to
seniors residing on Oahu, given lectures for the Elder Law Courses, advised students in the Elder Law Clinic, and has helped research recent developments in elder law.

Scott is also an advocate for populations with special needs. Scott is Hawaii's only member of the Special Needs Alliance (
www.specialneedsalliance.com). The Special Needs Alliance is a national, non-profit organization consisting of some of the most credentialed public benefits and disability law attorneys in the country, committed to helping individuals with disabilities, their families, and the professionals who represent them.

In practice, Scott has represented a wide variety of clients with a broad range of legal concerns. In addition to Medicaid and public benefit planning, Scott has also represented many clients with guardianships, conservatorships, probates, restraining orders, contract reviews, and contested estates.

Scott enjoys volunteering as a coach for the Special Olympics in his spare time.

CHRISTY S. MATSUBA, Associate Attorney

Christy S. Matsuba is an associate attorney at Scott C. Suzuki, Attorney at Law. She graduated from the William S. Richardson School of Law in 2007 and obtained a Certificate in Gerontology in 2004 from the University of Washington. Christy worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Colleeen K. Hirai, Chief Judge (retired) from 2007 to 2009 and has experience in areas of probate and trust administration and conservatorship proceedings.

JENNY T. UYENO, Office Manager/Paralegal

Jenny T. Uyeno is the Office Manager and Paralegal to Scott C. Suzuki & Christy Matsuba. She has over 13 years of business management experience, which includes owning her own business.

Jenny enjoys working with the families that require Guardianships and Special Needs Trusts work. She understands a considerable amount of this office's areas of practice. Jenny is happy to help you summarize your concerns and direct you to the sources that will best meet your needs.

In her free time, she enjoys gardening, art and the symphony. She has a love for animals and has rescued many abandoned birds, cats and dogs. She has also participated in the animal rescue efforts in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.


REI S. TAKAYAMA, Legal Secretary

Rei S. Takayama is the legal secretary and intake specialist. Rei handles our scheduling and new client intakes. She is able to tell you more about our office when you call. She will be able to tell you what to bring to your appointment and what to expect. Rei is happy to assist both new and existing clients.

Rei has a bachelor degree in Social Sciences from the University of Hawaii (West Oahu) in 2008. Rei worked at the Department of Education for 7 years prior to joining our office. Her work involved assisting students with special needs.

Rei enjoys attending bon dance festivities, photography and working animals.
